Curtain Falling On U?

Having shifted 12 odd million units since its launch in 2012, few would accuse the Wii U of having sold like hotcakes however even fewer would have predicted Nintendo would cease production of the console before it’s fifth birthday but reports emanating from Nikkei suggests that’s exactly what will happen by the year’s end. The report goes on to claim Nintendo has already ceased production of a number of Wii U accessories in an effort to deplete inventory however the Big N have been quick to deny any such action has or will take place any time soon but with the NX on the horizon Nikkei’s report seems to ring true.

  1. The Wii U’s game lineup imo is the best of any console. The X1, and PS4 have been huge disappointments. Until Nintendo says they’re cancelling production on future Wii U’s I’ll take this with a grain of salt.

Even if they do though I don’t regret owning a Wii U for a moment. I’ve played some fantastic games on it.

    1. The Wii U is going to go down as the most under appreciated console of all time, its library of games is excellent and its a real shame more haven’t invested in the console.

  2. It was short, but the ride on the Wii U was an amazing one. It’s been the most fun I’ve had playing video games since the Sega Dreamcast, and I mean that sincerely. I don’t own an EcksBoxWun and the PS4 angers me with how faulty and crampy this console has become. Meanwhile the Wii U is a true GAMER’S console, because that’s what it does best. Play games. I don’t know what the NX will have to offer, but I always follow Nintendo, because they are always on the cusp of inventing new ways to make gaming fun. They aren’t perfect and have made some silly to almost disastrous decisions, but the ingenuity and heart is always in the right place. I’ll miss the Wii U.

    1. The Wii U reminds me so much of the Dreamcast to, wonderful console not given a chance. I have a horrible feeling it might be the last truly great Nintendo console we ever get.
