Project Giant Delay.

Nintendo released a financial report for the first quarter of 2015 this week and while it didn’t exactly make for riveting reading, it did spread a little doubt on the fate of two Wii U titles, namely The Legend of Zelda U and Shigeru Miyamoto’s project Giant Robot which have now both been listed as TBD or to be determined. In the case of Zelda U the TBD clarification will likely fuel claims that the game is destined for a NX release while speculation is already rife that project Giant Robot will never see the light of day full stop. Time will tell.

  1. I still believe the project giant thingy will happen at some point. A NX release will be likely though. Pure speculation. I still don’t think we can get our hands on one by late 2016. Probably mid-2017. Still so much time.

    1. At E3 last year it still looked like a tech demo so there is certainly a lot of work left to do but not just on the presentation side of things. There really doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of substance behind the game either and I think if anything kills it off it’ll be the fact Nintendo have realized two robots knocking each other over simply isn’t enough of an idea to build a game on. Still at least we’ve still got SNK’s King of the Monsters for all are giant robot needs.

  2. I am not really surprised about the whole Giant Robot thing. It looked really incomplete when it was shown, and I am not sure a great game can emmerge from that.

    1. I couldn’t agree more, Giant Robot looked like a proof of concept demo for the Wii U controller itself and not a great one at that.

I do hope something can be salvaged from the idea though, perhaps even the introduction of mecha into a future Star Fox title?

  3. I think Nintendo is going to release Zelda on both the Wii U and NX. It’s the only explanation that I can think of on why they keep pushing it back.

    1. I think your right on the money with this one. Zelda U will appear on the NX at some point probably, as a launch title and It’will most likely be the last major Wii U release as well much as Twilight Princess was back on the GameCube.
