Blood Stains The Wii U?

While Koji Igarashi’s reveal of his much anticipated Castlevania successor, Bloodstained Ritual of the Night a few weeks went down a storm among most gamers, Wii U owners found themselves more than a little miffed at the news the game wouldn’t actually be coming to their console of choice at all. Things can change quickly in the world of gaming mind you and this week that change came in the form of a $3 million stretch goal added to Bloodstained Ritual of the Night’s Kickstart campaign which, if achieved in the next 14 days, will see the game released on the Wii U as well as the PC, PS4 and XOne.
Should a Wii U version of Bloodstained happen it won’t however, unlike the other visions be developed by Inti Creates but instead by the Texas based studio Armature who’s works include the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate and the PS Vita port of Inustice: Gods Among Us.

  1. I’m so used to announcements of 3rd party games suddenly not going to be available on Nintendo systems. It has happened so many times before. I remember when the 3DS was first announced, one of the titles that was said to be coming was an “Assassin’s Creed” game. Of course, it did not materialize.

    1. I get Nintendo fans aren’t happy with the third-party situation surrounding the Wii U and, to a lesser extent the 3DS these days but I remember how things were during the N64 era and it was far worse. That said, I do think Bloodstained not appearing on the Wii U is ludicrous, the game isn’t really pushing the bounds of graphical capabilitie now is it?

      1. Really don’t have any idea, but maybe because of the market. How many Wii U owners are there against the no. of potential buyers of that game? I think they were thinking about that. It’s sad but definitely true though.

      2. That’s probably how the Wii U is being perceived but I’d argue, given the console has so few games a truly stand-out third-party title would do very well for itself. Shovel Knight did.

  2. Looks like they might hit that goal, if they haven’t already. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a physical copy, but if not, that’s cool too. Agreed about the N64. It was dark days. Probably a combination of Nintendo not particularly SHOWING what third-party devs can do with their software and the stubbornness of aforementioned developers just shying away from Nintendo, for whatever reason.

    1. A physical version is apparently in the pipeline and that will be the version I go with as well.

      As for why the N64 was so badly supported the reasons were vast but I think cost above all else was the key. Developers simply didn’t want to pay for cartridges (which you could only buy from Nintendo) or the large license fee Nintendo required all developers to purchase. Similar issues dogged the GameCube and now Wii U.
