Elder Scrolls Free.

Despite the fact it’s less than a year old today, Bethesda have dropped the monthly subscription required to play The Elder Scrolls Online, making the game after purchase utterly free to play. Like many a MMO The Elder Scrolls Online has, thus far at least, struggled to secure itself a note worthy fan base, forcing Bethesda to change tack in hopes the removal of the game’s subscription fee on both PC and, as yet unreleased Playstation 4 and XBox One versions of the game will entice players to pick it up.
If in fact you are already a paying Elder Scroller though Bethesda have promised either an upgrade to their Plus membership and 10% progression boost or a monthly allotment of 1,500 crowns, your choice. The Elder Scrolls Online is available now on PC and from June the 9th on both the Playstation 4 and XBox One.

  1. I’m not too surprised that this happened. I bought this game, played it for a couple of days and then never went back to it.

    1. I think Bethesda figured the Elder Scrolls series had accumulated enough fans to guarantee the online edition’s success but clearly very few of the people who went out and bought Skyrim were convinced to do the same here. Perhaps going free will change that but I doubt it.
