Square Enix Summoning Final Fantasy X Onto The PS4?

Rumour2

Fans of Final Fantasy X and X-2 can already relive the adventurers of Tidus and co. on both the PS3 and PS Vita and, in HD no less but apparently Square Enix believes you’d like to play it on just one more. According to a listing posted on Square Enix’s French online store, which was then promptly taken down Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is to be released on the PS4 at some point next year.
As will come as little surprise, Square Enix would neither confirm or deny the validity of the listing however it doesn’t take much stretching of the imagination to envisage Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster making a PS4 appearance.

  1. Maybe, just maybe – Square’s initial plan is to build FF fan base with Type-0 so that more FF players will be on the ps4 when FXV launches. And then along the way, Square thought that instead of building the fan base with Type-0 release, why not start it with FFX. Just a hunch.

    1. They could certainly be trying to streamline the fan base but I think this port will just be so straightforward to do, and more importantly cheap that Square Enix simply won’t dare miss out on the opportunity to bring Final Fantasy X to the PS4.

  2. I wonder if they ever summon HD releases of FF XII, like they teased they’d do if sales of X/X-2 were solid – which they were. I guess the joke’s on me for giving any merit to Squenix’s empty claims.

    1. I wouldn’t write off the remastering of Final Fantasy XII just yet as, like you said not only has X and X2 sold reasonably but Square Enix’s other big name HD game, Kingdom Hearts 2 HD is also performing well so I think Final Fantasy XII is indeed a prime candidate for re-release. Now which platforms outside of the PS4 we’ll see Final Fantasy XII on is a far tougher question?

      1. Well, if it’ll be out on Vita, they sure got a day one purchase coming from me. Handhelds and jRPGs are simply meant for each other.

      2. This is true, my favourite thing about the Vita, bar the screen is that playing an RPG on it somehow feels more personal. I just wish there were a few more of them.
