Nintendo have already detailed one piece of DLC heading to both Smash Bros. U and 3DS in the form of Mewtwo, a free download for everyone who registers both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game before March 31st 2015 and a paid for one for those who don’t, the question now is what other characters can we expect after Mewtwo? Well If you believe series creator Masahiro Sakura we may not see any more DLC characters at all.
“I understand that DLC could add a lot to the appeal of Smash Bros, and I appreciate that a major part of the excitement for these games come from which characters will appear in the roster, so I think fans could really enjoy DLC that could keep this excitement going, however, I also think there might be criticism that we are cutting up content to sell characters one by one, or that we are adding things later that should have been there from the start. Given that, what I can say now about paid DLC is that we aren’t working on anything at the moment. We’ve put all our efforts into making the actual game,”
So there you have it, there’s no Smash Bros. DLC in the works yet, yet being the operative word here me thinks. Meanwhile in other Smash news Nintendo also confirmed that the 72 track music CD, available free to all those who again register both Wii U and 3DS versions of the game will be claimable from November 28th 2014 to January 27th 2015, so don’t delay.
