Night Trapped Again?

There must be something in the water today as it appears alongside the Atari revival we’re soon to be treated to yet another blast from the past, this time in the form of 90’s video (game) nasty Night Trap.
“I appreciate your on-going interest,” James Riley, co-creator of Night Trap told the closed Night Trap Facebook community earlier today “but please understand I do plan to re-release Night Trap and have been talking with a number of interested parties to do so. However, the specific platform(s) have not been confirmed and I will let you know once we have a definite plan and release schedule. Night Trap will come back, in better resolution and game play than before, we just want to be sure it’s the best strategy for all involved.”
Night Trap was released on the Sega Mega-CD and Sega 32X back in 1992 before being ported to the 3DO, DOS and Mac OS a few years later, and while the game itself, a full-motion video graphics affair was largely panned by critics at the time it, along with Mortal Kombat, Lethal Enforcers and Doom were used as evidence that games and the games industry both needed regulation and a ratings system. By today’s standards Night Trap is comparable to some of the shows you might catch on either Disney junior or Cbeebies, that’s why you won’t hear a word of concern about its re-release from anyone.

  1. I remember the British tabloids going mental over this game back in the day. I honestly don’t know what the fuss was all about. The only shocking thing about the game was the acting.

    1. I remember the Night Trap nonsense as well and the typical absurdity dished out by the media, More fondly I also remember playing Lethal Enforcers on the Mega Drive to death around the same time.
It’d be real nice to see Konami do something with that series toady, have Kojima reboot it after he is done with MGS 5 maybe? I know, I know it won’t happen but I can dream can’t I.
