Nintendo Direct.

The 1st of October saw a new Nintendo Direct which delivered news both good and bad. In the good category new Sonic Lost World, Mario & Sonic At The Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, Zelda A Link Between Worlds and Bravely Default trailers showcased a slew of games all coming along nicely, much in the same way a new trailer for Super Mario 3D World showed a game which now looks a whole lot more fun than when last seen at E3. The good news didn’t end with a bunch of new trailers either though, oh no, Nintendo went on to unveiled a brand new Kirby title heading to the 3DS next year and confirmation that Sonic will be returning to Smash Bros.
All good news I’m sure you’ll agree, but then along came the bad, confirmation that Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze will not be making it’s winter release as originally planned but instead will launch early 2014.

Super Mario 3D World

  1. It’s sad that Nintendo are still one of the few big gaming companies that are willing to delay past the holiday season just so that they can make a better game. Like why didn’t they delay Aliens: Colonial Marines another decade just to make it remotely playable.

  2. Nintendo still hold craftsmanship in high regard while the likes of Colonial Marines is outsourced to whoever will make it cost effectively. It a false economy because they may save some cash in production but what do Sega do with the license which they paid for? Who would buy another Sega or GearBox branded Aliens title now? Sure fans were disappointed with Donkey Kong’s delay but if it needs the time it needs the time.
