Despite the original Arkham games not featuring or needing for that matter a multiplayer mode Warner Bros. have decided that the forth coming prequel, Arkham Origins does and so London-based developers Splash Damage (Enemy Territories: Quake Wars, Brink) have been drafted in to craft it. Today with the aid of a short press release and trailer that multiplayer mode has been revealed.
“The Batman: Arkham Origins Online mode offers players the chance to hunt as Batman or Robin against the most challenging opponents yet, friends and other gamers online. Players can also take on the role of a Super-Villain Elite and get a peek behind the curtain of what it’s like to side with The Joker or Bane as they establish their legacy by taking down Batman and Robin, and anyone else who gets in their way. Fans will even be able [to] call in the ultimate reinforcement to help turn the tide in any match by playing as The Joker or Bane themselves.”
Despite making a big song and dance of Batman’s new online mode Warner Bros. have oddly decided not to include it in the Wii U version of the game due to the console’s “low installer base,” a decision bound to enrage Nintendo fans.
