Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes, Phantom Pain and MGSV?

Hideo Kojima has always been a man who plays his cards close to his chest, however the mystery surrounding both The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes has been a little much, even for a  Kojima game and somehow it’s gotten worse. You see yesterday Hideo Kojima showed off The Phantom Pain, now dubbed Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain, and confirmed that the game would take place some 9 years after Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes which would itself be acting as a prologue. Now that’s all well and good but Kojima was quick to muddy the waters by adding.
“Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain put together is Metal Gear Solid 5.”
Now what this statement actually means has since become a major point of contention for Metal Gear fans the world over with many concluding that Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain will be two separate games entirely, one of them, probably Ground Zeroes could even be a download only game but no one seems to know for sure. Which platforms will actually play host to the game/games also seem to be up in the air at the moment what with a Konami spokesman confirming that The Phantom Pain would “definitely” be coming to the PS3 and 360 but he was unsure of were the prologue, Ground Zeroes would appear. In fact all yesterday’s announcement really confirmed for sure was that long time Solid Snake and Big Boss’ voice actor David Hayter won’t reprise his role. Yet another decision the fans are less than pleased about. You can decide for yourself whether you agree or not by checking out the new trailers here and here.
